Final Double Page Spread

I am thoroughly pleased with my Double page spread as it looks professional and eye-catching and the interview and the images are on separate pages to keep it organised. The close-ups of each individual member are placed around their slogan 'Saint Lucinda' to provide a sense of unity but individuality at the same time reinforcing the multiple talents in the band. The slogan in the centre of the right hands side page stands for 'Saint Lucinda' and I transformed the logo into a three dimensional image (with Serif page plus) to stand out and captivate the audience. The logo is red to display the bands passion and love for music as well as the power of rock and the anger behind it. I decided to make the background black so that the dark images would look effective and blend in.  For the interview, I wanted to know about their life before fame, their passion for music and their ambitions so that their fans learn more about the band. The questions I asked consisted of:
    • Have you always wanted a career in music?
    • What artists have inspired you?
    • What do you love about performing?
    • How have you managed to stay grounded; since you sold out the O2?
    • How did the band start?
    • What does the future hold for you?
The colour of the writing for the interview is red and white to stand out and to match the red of the slogan and the white of the members skin against the bright light. Certain quotes that stood out in the interview, I enlarged them and converted them to the same yellow colour I used on the front cover for the puffs. One of the quotations is in the centre of the interview and the other is on the other page to make the reader want to read on and to contrast with the background. The name of the magazine remains at the top of the page as it is an exclusive interview provided by my magazine and to emphasise the theme of my magazine is continued through the Double page spread and the contents page.

Front Cover Feedback

I have received feedback from members of my target audience who appear to be happy with my final music magazine. When I was first designing my cover; I had a vision of what I wanted to do and how I wanted the magazine to come across but I just needed help from my target audience (teenagers of both genders). When I created my first draft for my final cover, I filmed the reactions and opinions of my target audience and I am glad I did that as their criticism and ideas placed me on the right track as I knew what they wanted to see. The features I have been working on since include photoshoots for the secondary images, rephrasing captions and moving different features to make the cover look professional. The feedback I have received through text messages is very positive and I am pleased that they would buy it.

Front Cover FINAL

This is my music magazine final cover, I have created a lot of drafts for this cover as I have collected a lot of feedback and have researched similar music magazine covers. As this is the final copy, I have added an image from the photo shoot with Einstein which I have lightened to stand out against the background. I have moved the cover lines to fill in the empty spaces on the page and the writing is still visible when placed on top of the image. The colours work together perfectly and the central image is exactly what I planned as it displays a sense of professionalism as they are all looking at the camera and it is central.

Contents Page FINAL

I am really pleased with my contents page because every photo shoot I did for the magazine is presented on this page to tell the reader that they are featured inside. I feel that each photo shoot is extremely different and their music and personality shines through. I have organised the different features into categories to make certain features easy to find for the magazine readers. The colours used are also applied on the cover and the double page spread so I have kept with a theme throughout. The image of Saint Lucinda is larger because they are the main topic of the magazine and the page numbers are also included on the photos for the reader.

Final magazine cover DRAFT

This is my music magazine cover and I am really happy with it as all the colours work together perfectly and the central image is exactly what i planned as it displays a sense of professionalism. I moved the image downwards so all their faces are not being taken over by other magazine features which was included in the target audience feedback. I tried to make the layout of certain features such as the font central so that the cover does not seem too busy and to display significance for 'Saint Lucinda'. I decided to make the puffs a bright yellow colour because it contrasts with the dark background and the writing is enlarged so that the words 'win' and 'free' stand out to the reader as that grabs their attention. I feel like this cover still needs more improvements and adjustments as there are blank spaces to be filled; possibly with a secondary image.
